The fine print nobody reads at purchase
Commercial robot warranties are shorter and stricter than buyers assume, per the manufacturers’ own manuals: Keenon warrants main parts 12 months but consumables (omni wheel, power adapter) only 6, and voids coverage on non-original parts, liquid damage, or overload. Pudu’s BellaBot warranty runs 12 months on major components (24 on the battery) but excludes trays and the E-stop, and requires original proof of purchase with intact serial labels — which is the polite way of saying secondhand units have no manufacturer warranty at all. No manufacturer we track publishes a second-owner program.
What out-of-contract service actually costs
The one published direct rate in the industry: Pudu’s manual lists on-site service at $500 per day per person, plus round-trip travel. Everything else is quote-only — PUDU Care plans (2 or 4 annual visits, parts included) have no public pricing, and neither do Keenon or Gausium out-of-warranty repairs (Gausium’s manual says fees are “charged according to product price,” which is not a comfort).
The practical fallback: multi-brand service plans
RobotLAB services 20+ brands (Pudu, Bear, Keenon, Gausium included) under published tiers from $199/month: Basic (pay-as-you-go, 4-business-day response) up through Platinum (24-hour response, same/next-day on-site, a 72-hour swap unit, 12-month battery warranty, annual consumables pack). For an out-of-contract or secondhand robot, this is currently the only published-price path to real coverage — and the tier details matter: battery and charger coverage below Platinum is just 3 months.
The buying lesson
If you’re considering a used service robot: price the machine assuming zero manufacturer support, a $199+/month plan or $500/day incidents, and consumables on a quarterly clock. A $6,000 secondhand BellaBot with no coverage can cost more over two years than a new one with a service contract. This math — repair reality versus sticker price — is exactly what our Serviceability Scores exist to surface before you buy.
